What is Emotional Abuse

The underlying goal of emotional abuse is to control the victim by discrediting, isolating, and silencing. The impact of emotional abuse can be even more damaging than physical violence itself. Children in particular who experience emotional abuse are at increased risk of adverse health consequences later in life, such as cardiac problems, eating disorders, and mental health issues, such as addiction, depression and suicide.
