Surviving Trauma and Changing the Narrative
"I can help you unpack your trauma in a safe environment, choose healthy thoughts and claim your survivorship. It’s time to change the narrative"

Hi! I am Ruth Cohen B.A. (Hons), M.SW., R.S.W., a registered social worker with over 25 years of experience in child protection, individual, family, and group therapy. I have a particular interest in understanding and treating trauma. I am specifically curious about the interconnectedness between intimate partner violence and other forms of abuse and the manifestations of trauma.
Research tells us that the same event can be interpreted as traumatic by one person, however, not by another. This is the result of:
➼ one’s trauma history;
➼ accessibility to intervention;
➼ one’s resiliency
I see my role as exploring the ways in which trauma affects an individual on a day-to-day basis, whether it is acute or complex, and customizing a trauma-informed approach, tailored to meet the needs of that individual.
